Aaron Copland's "The Second Hurricane"

This short opera was first staged in 1937 by Orson Welles at a high school. It's a fun story about a group of high school students originally going to assist in a disaster aid effort when they themselves get caught in a second hurricane. Leonard Bernstein conducts and plays a tongue-in-cheek narrator which just adds to the fun. The recorded score has been released as part of Columbia's Bernstien centennial series:

My recently passed friend Arthur Anderson was in that with Orson. It was actually at the Henry Street Playhouse, after they'd met on the radio PETER ABSOLUTE, and before the stage CAESAR.
