"Excellent on all levels! Closest adaptation of the novel I've ever heard."
DON GLUT, author of "The Frankenstein Legend"

Join us for a Treat this All Hallows' Eve -- and support Independent Radio at WBAI, as well as broadcast Audio Drama both old and new on THE GOLDEN AGE OF RADIO!

Quicksilver Radio Theater is proud to return to where they began 20 years ago for a special Halloween presentation of their SILVER REEL-winning Audio Drama, part of host MAX SCHMID's four-hour Halloween Spectacular on THE GOLDEN AGE OF RADIO:

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30th at 8pm.
On the Air at WBAI - 99.5 FM in New York City, and Streaming Online @ http://wbai.org/

Faithfully adapted by Producer CRAIG WICHMAN from MARY SHELLEY's original, this production explores the tale's themes of responsibility and obsession - perhaps even more relevant in our day than in the author's. The show stars JOSEPH FRANCHINI as Victor Frankenstein and MR. WICHMAN as his Monster. Original music is by TONY AWARD-Winner MARK HOLLMANN, and the Director is JAY STERN (Independent Feature, THE ADVENTURES OF PAUL AND MARIAN.)

"Really impressed ... a terrific job, both in adapting and performing..."

FRANKENSTEIN : Modern Prometheus

Postby Wich2 » Tue Oct 31, 2017 2:21 pm

Dear Folks -

Now that some Radio discussion is happening hereabouts again, here's a free All Hallow's treat!

We may bring our old friend The Monster back to life in Rep next year, for the 200th birthday of Mother Mary's classic tale. Till then, here's our moldy oldie original production, courtesy of the estimable Fred Greenhalgh's Modern Audio Drama site:

http://www.radiodramarevival.com/bonus-quicksilvers-frankenstein-stalks-again/

With JOSEPH FRANCHINI as Victor Frankenstein and Your Obedient Servant as his Monster, and featuring in alphabetical order CLYDE BALDO, JODI BOTELHO, ROBERT HESS, VITO LaBELLA, SUSAN MUIR, and JOHN PRAVE. Sound by DAVID NOLAN, effects by MR. BALDO. Original music by TONY AWARD-Winner MARK HOLLMANN. Director, JAY STERN (Independent Feature, "THE CHANGELING.")

"These are really tremendous programs... the best I've heard of 'modern' OTR productions."
-GARY DON RHODES

"Excellent on all levels! Closest adaptation of the novel I've ever heard."
- DON GLUT

Best,
-Craig

Very enjoyable show, Craig. Another excellent job by you and your company. I like your approach to The Monster. The guy that does Dr Frankenstein is very good too. Good job, and a cool poster as well.

Many thanks, Chief.

These shows are a labor of love. I'm fiercely proud of the gang's work; agreed, that my old classmate Joe is terrific as Victor. And to play a character like The Monster is a sacred honor for me.

(The portrait is by talented and generous artist Kerry Gammill.)

Best,
-Craig

P.S. - We have Stoker's DRACULA in the can, if I ever get it edited...

How he'd feel about the fact, I dunno...

But character-wise, I've shared Brutus, Ebenezer Scrooge, Abraham Lincoln, Sherlock Holmes and Count Dracula with The Old Man; play-wise, add MERCHANT OF VENICE; and series-wise, SUSPENSE.
