American Cavalcade: The Things We Have

Postby Wellesnet » Tue May 26, 2015 7:30 pm

On 26 May 1939, Orson Welles's production of "The Things We Have: American Cavalcade" was broadcast on "The Campbell Playhouse," CBS-Radio.Written by Orson Welles, and co-starring Cornelia Otis Skinner, a writer for The New Yorker, auxillary associate of the Algonquin Round Table, noted diseuse (monologist), and sometime actress (most notably "The Uninvited" from 1944). She was the daughter of the famous Shakespearean actor Otis Skinner, a famous Shylock and Falstaff of his day.

She and Welles both play five roles each in this somewhat revisionist trip through American history.
