News from Manchester UK. Although the National Film Theatre in London plans a Welles retrospective so far the only signs here were the screenings of THE STRANGER and THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI at the new Cinema complex HOME that occurred later last month. HOME takes the place of the old Cornerhouse Art, Cinema complex. Whether some local film societies will screen some Welles remains to be see. The second running longest Film Society in the UK - the Manchester and Salford Film Society which has an Altrincham venue has no plans for the future - as far as I know. :(
