Re: "Me & Mr. Welles" by Dorian Bond
Dorian Bond worked as Welles' errand boy for a year. The first excerpt I read made big assumptions and showed little outside research. Not surprising since he notes that Welles complained he was lazy. ("reluctance to work"). Then I saw this in a British tabloid report, which has convinced me not to order the book:
- Nevertheless, errors abound. Welles never played Macbeth in London, still less with Churchill in the audience, nor did Shaw write a play called Captain Courageous.
Welles was not in Repulsion (though he was in Compulsion).
He did not write the script for John Huston’s film of Moby Dick, as that was credited to Ray Bradbury.
