Our attention was recently directed to a 2002 book, HEARST OVER HOLLYWOOD, by Louis Pizzitola. It references a 1919 thinly veiled critical feature film about Hearst directed by George Fitzmaurice (a friend of Herman Mankiewicz) that provides some insight into Hearst’s thinking,
