I finally got hold of Orson Welles’ book of his plays “Miracle a Hollywood aka The Unthinking Lobster and A Bon Entendeur aka A Fair Warning.
( see This Is Orson Welles p.405-407)
I have read the former and it was funny and witty and I think very much in the same mood as other Welles’ writings: a short story “Fifi And The Chilean truffle /The Diplomatic Crisis, the book “Une Grosse Legume “(VIP, Buzzo Gospel in Harry lime radio series) ,script “Operation Cinderella”( p.412-413 This is OW), Mr.Arkadin ( Harry Lime series , book and film) and later “The Big Brass Ring” and I guess one could include “The Other Side Of The Wind” there, too.
They seem to be satires, if that is the right word, about politics, show business etc. Same kind of wit and humor(black) unites those writings .
And they are all written while in "exile" in Europe in 50's, when "blacklisted" by Hollywood and FBI .
Themes of betrayal and maybe some kind of bitterness about movies and politics in his home country USA seems to unite all Welles' writings.

Vidamonte, did you ever get around to reading FAIR WARNING? If so, how was it?

Hi,
I haven't read that one yet.

I wouldn't go to that much trouble, unless you're eager to learn French. Too bad it's never been translated into English. A bit surprising, too. I would think someone would have gotten around to it by now, along with UNE GROSSE LEGUME.
