RKO Birth of a Titan

Postby Kane76 » Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:18 am

I just wanted to recommend to the list RIchard B. Jewell's RKO Radio Pictures: The Birth of a Titan. It is a look at the business end of RKO Pictures, with insights to all of the studio heads, including George Schaefer and his dealings with OW. Jewell, who many know as the author of The RKO Story, had access to many documents, memos, and other correspondence that illustrate the behind the scenes activity of the studio. The chapters alone on Schaefer are very interesting and what led him to pursue and hire Welles is detailed. I heartily recommend this book.

Thanks for the tip, Kane76. Sounds like it's worth checking out.
