This innovative BBC TV series ended earlier this year. It dealt with a cop returning to Manchester 1973 from the year 2006. The visual style deliberately moved away from television format to incorporate the type of imagery used in Mike Hodges's GET CARTER. However, one audio-commentary to a season one episode mentioned the visual nfluence of THE TRIAL in one scene. The production people behind this series appeared to know their cinema history very well.
