A very (minor) change to the website. The landing page for www.wellesnet.com is our latest news page, rather than the index page.
With most visitors looking for news, the change made sense. The index page still remains and all pages can be easily accessed in the right rail on all pages.

We have made a significant upgrade to the Wellesnet Message Board, which will allow registered members to access the forum using their Facebook login. There are a few steps that must be completed for first time use.
Below are instructions for current members who want to link their Facebook account to the Message Board and a separate set for prospective members. (Board registration in required for all users.

FOR EXISTING MEMBERS

Go to http://wellesnet.com/phpbb2/ucp.php?mode=login
Click FACEBOOK box
A Facebook sign-in window will open
Complete the Facebook info and CONTINUE.
In the new window under "login," fill in your Message Board USERNAME and PASSWORD and click LOGIN
YOUR FACEBOOK SIGN-IN IS NOW ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR WELLESNET MESSAGE BOARD ACCOUNT. YOU CAN SIGN IN EITHER WAY FROM NOW ON.
To confirm:

Find the drop down menu in the right corner next to your SCREEN NAME
Click USER CONTROL PANEL
CLICK the PROFILE TAB
On the left, click MANAGE EXTERNAL ACCOUNT ASSOCIATIONS to verify

FOR PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS

Go to http://wellesnet.com/phpbb2/ucp.php?mode=login
Click the FACEBOOK box
A Facebook sign-in window will open
Complete the Facebook info and click CONTINUE.
In the new window, click REGISTER, complete the form and submit to Wellesnet
(You will receive an email from Wellesnet within 72 hours that your account has been activated)
After receiving notification by email, log in at http://wellesnet.com/phpbb2/ucp.php?mode=login using your Facebook account
Board window will state: WELLESNET MESSAGE BOARD - Link or register your account on an external service with your board account
Fill in your USERNAME and PASSWORD and click LOG-IN
YOUR FACEBOOK SIGN-IN IS NOW ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR WELLESNET MESSAGE BOARD ACCOUNT. YOU CAN SIGN IN EITHER WAY FROM NOW ON.
To confirm:

The Wellesnet Message Board can now be accessed with a Facebook login. (Registration is still required).

Three years ago, we left our longtime hosting service and moved to HostGator.
We have experienced fewer outages and headaches. We have been happy with their customer service and just inked a three-year deal to continue with them.

I have been researching/ debating an upgrade of wellesnet.com from http to https.
I do not accept credit cards via the site, already pay for SiteLock and wellesnet.com is checked daily for malware. Still, it seems to be a factor in Google rankings. Plus, I am annoyed by the Not Secure label in Google Chrome.
However, I paid for a three-year agreement with HostGator last fall. An upgrade will require a new plan that will more than double my operating cost. (I have turned down paid advertising in the past and that is still the plan.)
So, it appears likely that it will remain http://wellesnet.com until September 2020, when I will price new plans.

The php has been upgraded to improve performance and improve security measures.
(Some folks apparently got a 502 Bad Gateway error during the upgrade.)

All may be viewed on that page or downloaded using the arrow icon ↓ on the bottom of each script frame.

Wellesnet.com has added a SSL certificate and been upgraded from http to https
A year and a half ago, I researched upgrading, but passed because of the cost.
Well, the web host has added a free SSL certificate to my subscription and with a quick plugin it was done.
If it causes any headaches, I will disable.

We have begun a more modern redesign of the website as Wellesnet readies for its 20th anniversary in 2021.
The font size has been increased in size.
