Martin Eden (2020)

New Italian film version of the 1909 Jack London novel:

Orson Welles, according to Frank Brady's "Citizen Welles", considered Martin Eden, among other projects, as a followup to "Citizen Kane", but eventually chose Ambersons instead. I don't know whether RKO owned the rights to the book or not, but a film was made shortly afterwards by Columbia Studios called "The Adventures of Martin Eden", starring Glenn Ford in the title role. It was released in February of 1942, just as Welles was leaving for Brazil for the "It's All True" project.
