Christley! Open up your head for one second and try to understand this VERY simple idea: this forum is not here to oblige a right, correct, proper, uniform, absolute, etc. point of view. Within the generally accepted topics, it is open to ANYONE, at ANYTIME, who wants to discuss ANYTHING. Subjective viewpoints are just that and have no authority beyond the attached asshole who is spouting them.

THINK! THIS IS NOT THAT DIFFICULT TO PROCESS! You have a simple philosophical choice to make here: that of espousing some kind of intellectual authoritarianism, or, fostering liberty of consciousness through the free exchange of ideas.

C'mon, you're embarrassing yourself. And irritating me with your boring lack of perspective.

Christley!

O&J's comments were compelling because they were enthusiastic, spirited, and yes, FUN. Do you have any conception of finding pleasure in this?

What a crank.

You know, now I'm feeling crappy. Christley, I apologize--I respect your position as I hope you can come to accept mine. I don't want to lose the potential of some fruitful discussions in the future. I know it sounds awfully sentimental, but I would suggest starting with a little more simple KINDNESS in your approach to others on the board. From this elementary gesture, understanding, respect, and tolerance will surely follow. So, I am going to follow the wise marzol's lead and bow out of this thread, wishing you all a great day, or night.

This "discussion" on WAR OF THE WORLDS has devolved into WAR OF THE WORDS. This could have been a fantastic thread but it is now rather threadbare. It has more to do with wounded pride than with WAR OF THE WORLDS in any of its incarnations. I'm surprised Warden Jeff hasn't ambled down the hall and terminated this thread with extreme prejudice.

John Houseman a failure after he and Welles parted company? If one defines failure as making dizzy money producing classic films (THE BLUE DAHLIA, ON DANGEROUS GROUND, Brando's JULIUS CAESAR, THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, LUST FOR LIFE, etc.) before morphing into an Oscar-winning character actor at age 71 (THE PAPER CHASE) and working steadily as an actor until 1988, the year of his death, then I suppose Houseman was a big fat failure.

Meanwhile, "successful" Welles was hamming it up in grindhouse fodder like THE WITCHING and HOT MONEY, shilling for the Shah and REVENGE OF THE NERDS, and filming low-budget vanity projects like THE DREAMERS (unfinished, of course).

It is now indeed closed, given that there is little chance of anything useful being said on the original topic. Take any personal grudge matches off the board please.
