Fall 2012 has brought some slight changes to Wellesnet.
I have acquired and renewed the domain name, tripled Wellesnet's storage space/ bandwidth and paid for service through fall 2013. We should not experience any service disruptions. Mike Teal, Larry French, Jeff Wilson and our host at Precision Effect have all made this transition smooth.
As a result of the upgrade, we have a new home page and two pages dedicated to Orson Welles video clips: Sketchbook and Career Milestones. All will undergo slight revisions in the months ahead.
At Mike's urging, there will be a cleanup of the Message Board... expect to see years old trade offers disappear, as well as some posts that are off-topic. When Mike and I began the review and subsequent reorganization of the board a year ago, we found a lot of posts in the wrong categories and moved them. This is a more exhaustive effort involving thousands of posts, so kudos to Mike for being willing to undertake it.
More than 15,000 unique monthly visitors stop by Wellesnet. We appreciate your interest and look forward to any suggestions you may have.

Re: Site improvements
Thanks Mike. The old trading area was the best place to start. The changes look great.
Re: Site improvements
I have made some adjustments to block malicious bots from accessing the website. (Google is always welcome).
I cannot imagine that this will impact regular users. If you have any problems, please let me know.
Thanks.

Re: Site improvements
You definitely deserve thanks on improving this format. Access to the message board is now easier, new headings have appeared, and a new generation of interested people are now posting.
Re: Site improvements
Mike has done the editing of the message board. (I have been touching up other aspects of the site).
What Mike is doing is a careful review and reduction. Posts with dead links, matters that are frankly no longer relevant (avatar use discussions from 2006) off-topic remarks, lapsed trade offers...
Several hundred posts of the 19,500 on the site have been removed or reassigned to different threads by Mike.
Mike has done a great job and he deserves all of our thanks.

Re: Site improvements
...and thank you Ray, for all your great work on the main page, and being our "Bot-man"! We've eliminated about 150 threads so far, mainly the most obvious ones for trashing. If anyone has any suggestions for threads to be eliminated, let me know and we'll put it on the bubble.
Re: Site improvements
We will be adding a new photo page in the coming days. The Orson Welles Family Album will be pictures of Orson Welles with family, children and friends. We a have wealth of photos from his films in the Legacy pages, but this should capture another side of Orson Welles.

Re: Site improvements
Ray, thanks for the terrific job on the family page!
It's great to see all the pictures together in one spot, many of which I hadn't seen before.
I'm sure Chris and Beatrice will like it as well.

Re: Site improvements
The video embed coding proved to be unstable so the Career Milestones and Sketchbook pages have been redone.
The Sketchbook page now features all SIX episodes in better quality.
Enjoy!

Re: Site improvements
Visitors to wellesnet.com will notice a slight change beginning today. The template has been adjusted to 1024 pixels wide and to display the navigational sidebar on every page. The page banners have been revamped. Most photos have been resized to take advantage of the greater width.
Re: Site improvements
Apologies to those unable to access the site yesterday. It was down while a routine back up was underway.
Re: Site improvements
It has been a rough 48 hours. The website was hacked, which required a rebuild. The past four weeks of articles and message board posts were lost. We hope to recreate what was lost. If you registered for this site in the past 4 weeks, you will likely have to do so once again.
Re: Site improvements
Some long overdue upgrades have been made to the blog. These should be invisible to all, but will better protect the site from hacking and spam.
If anybody finds any glitches, please send a note to contactwellesmet@gmail.com
