I wonder if the Immortal Story print use by TCM will be the same print use by Mr. Bongo for their up coming dvd release?

TCM played "The Trial" in HD a few days ago. It was the Studio Canal master -- with opening titles/credits in French. I DVR'd it and watched about half. I've never seen the Blu Ray, but this transfer looked spectacular! I've seen "The Trial" in 16mm and 35mm, and this was the best I've ever seen it look.

It does look very good, but there are still a few anomalies I think could be corrected with a better transfer/mastering (some jitter that I thought could be stabilized and digital artifacts that could be eliminated). More importantly, however: the superimposed credits at the end have to go. Welles intended the cast credits to be "read" by him over the shots of the explosion smoke cloud and slide projector image; the way the Studio Canal master fails to synchronize the superimposed text credits with Welles' voice is very distracting.

I saw it too and compared it to my Blu-ray and they both look the same in sharpness and contrast. Nice to see TCM showing a good print of the film.
