It is as one Welles scholar has always said (along with others), he is a challenge to their system. Several big names could easily write of $! million with a good accountant. But even Tarantino has not done anything to celebrate the centenary of William Whitney this year, a director he espouses in contrast to John Ford. Even, if he is busy with filming, he could arrange for screenings of Witney's work in that cinema he owns in LA.

There has been a $1.4M lump sum payment on the table for the past few months. Does it really matter if it Spielberg's money or if it came from a one-legged Brazilian art dealer? Money is money.

The auctioneer will still be pronouncing the famous words well into 2016.

Then, in Melville's words, 2016 might be the time for LE DEUXIEME SOUFFLE?

Here is the last post, dated July 7th, 2015, from Indiegogo's Facebook page for TOSOTW (https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=orson%20welles):
July 7th, 2015-
A big, Orson Welles thank you to each and every one of you who has gotten us to over $400K on Indiegogo.
Stay tuned for updates on ‪#‎OrsonsLastFilm‬ in the coming weeks!

Here are some recent comments from the Indiegogo webpage itself
(https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fini ... ilm#/story):

magicdt3000 (2 months ago):
Hello…could we have an update? Just nod if you can hear me… Thanks.

Julia Castlen (2 months ago):
Hi, just joining in with the requests for updates. It would be nice to know what is happening, or not, just curious really. Thanks!

Jussi Tarvainen (2 months ago):
Hi! Could you please give an update on how things are proceeding? Specifically, I’d like to know if Ms. Kodar and other relevant parties have reached an agreement, and if the negative has been released from the vaults? Thanks!

anthony.lawrie (1 month ago):
No update for 5 months is really bad form. Please can we hear how the project is going!

Richard Ottenstroer (1 month ago):
So, what’s the story?

Jérôme Stavroguine (1 month ago):
Is this campaigne a true and official one? Is there an update on this project? Four months have now past since the last news was posted! No news, bad news… Hope it wasn’t a trick like the ones from “F for Fake”! Please give us some fresh and precise news. Thanks.

Joe Zamarelli (22 days ago):
What’s happening? Still waiting on a t-shirt. I’ve emailed as well.

Julia Castlen (7 hours ago):
Well, this is certainly disappointing news in the previous comment regarding the delays. Why there has been no official update is concerning as well. Particularly with the following copied directly from the FAQ section of this campaign:
Q: Are you in possession of all the negatives and do you have all the legal rights required to make this film?
A: We own all of the rights to the negatives and they are currently being shipped over from Paris.

Untrue apparently. I gave my money based on lies?

Whatever the actual reasons, this delay is going to cause unparalleled damage to both Welles and the genuine desire of many to get this film finally re-edited and released.

Peter Bogdanovich recounted his 40-year-old involvement with TOSOTW in a video interview for Le Monde

He commented (briefly) on the current status:

"I am less involved in the day-to-day business," Bogdanovich said. "I am supposed to edit the film... I am supposed to supervise the editing of the film. I keep being told the last few days I have heard '10 days, maybe two weeks, we should have it all wrapped up.' I have been hearing that for a long time, but it is possible that one day I will be surprised and they really will have everything wrapped up and we can go to work."

As painful as it is to keep hearing about the *possibility* of a positive development in the future, that "last few days" part does strike me as somewhat promising. I guess it's better than having heard nothing at all; at least someone somewhere is trying.

Thanks for the update Ray.

It's funny. I had thought that Oja and her nephew were surely being unreasonable. But the extremely shabby way the producers have treated those who donated to the indiegogo campaign is giving me second thoughts. Rymsza and his team were less than honest with Welles fans and raised money under false pretenses. (They said they had all rights to the negatives, but apparently they didn't). And after taking our money, they disappeared like robbers in the night. It seems to me that Oja and her nephew would be wise to be weary of such people.
