CK alternate headlines

Postby Colmena » Fri Nov 06, 2020 8:20 am

This classic scene in CK is now especially topical.

In this case DT is claiming both headlines: both victory and fraud.

...I am SO tried of historically ignorant folks bellowing, "UNPRECEDENTED!" though...

This election? Um, ever hear of the one in 1824, or maybe 1876?

This pandemic? Ah, 1918, anyone?

What Mark Twain called, "The Damned Human Race" are such navel-gazers.

The initial post didn't claim it was unprecedented, just topical.

Martyn, I was responding to the first line of the linked article. Which reads:

"The US election has provided the world with one of the most unprecedented events as neither Joe Biden or Donald Trump have yet to be declared the winner."

That statement is historically ignorant.

Carringer shows a still from "You Only Live Once" of three headlines for the verdict in Fonda's trial, each with a different picture of him: sullen, uncertain, happy.

Apparently DT was "obsessed" with this scene long before he lost the election:

I don't know if this was noted in O'Brien's book, TrumpNation.
