Long Tack Sam

Postby NoFake » Sun Oct 14, 2007 7:38 pm

There's a new book out on Welles' vaudevillian magician-mentor, Long Tack Sam: http://www.amazon.com/Magical-Life-Long-Tack-Sam/dp/1594482640/ref=sr_1_1/103-8863444-5175863?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1192403806&sr=8-1

The book isn't searchable on Amazon, but I've ordered it, curious to see what the author, Sam's great-granddaughter, Anne Marie Fleming, has to say about his relationship with Welles...

This is based on Anne Marie Fleming's wonderful documentary.

I highly recommend this. It usually plays on IFC or worth a rental.

The 2003 documentary is now on Youtube:

Welles is in it only briefly, towards the end, but he does acknowledge Long Tack Sam as a mentor during a clip from one of the Sketchbook shows.
