Le Chiffre wrote: The stony silence from both camps is really inexcusable, especially from Filip Jan Rymzsa's camp, which took money from Welles fans and promised regular updates. But also from Oja's camp, blamed for the collapse of the Showtime deal some 10-15 years ago, according to Josh Karp's book. They've offered absolutely nothing themselves, except to blame Filip for everything because he's a "crook". But that argument holds limited water after Josh's explanation of the Showtime debacle. Nobody that contributed to Indiegogo wants their money back; they want a completed film instead. But if demanding a refund is a way to get some attention and an update, then it might be worth considering, especially if it was done en masse. End of vent.

Not a big fan of the silence either, but people negotiating $5 million deals tend not to blab in the press and give updates on negotiations. I agree the Indiegogo angle puts Filip Jan Rymsza in a very awkward position. Add to that he is now partnered with Netflix, who to the best of my knowledge, has never commented on its deals while talks are underway.
IMHO, I think Rymsza is far more focused on completing the deal, than worrying about PR. If he pulls this off, no one if going to bitch at the premiere about the lack of updates.
As for Oja Kodar, she is not bound to comment on her business dealings, though her nephew, Sasha, has ALWAYS been cordial in responding to me about TOSOTW.
And again, there is no absolutely no evidence to support a theory that she is holding things up regarding a cut or final cut.

Filip et al. could give updates without divulging any confidential information or jeopardizing sensitive negotiations. There is no excuse for his failure to do so.

The other huge problem is that the fundraising campaign appears to have been premised on a lie. The producers said that they had secured "all rights" to the film. But apparently the producers don't have "all rights" or they would be proceeding with the project right now. I, for one, would not have contributed to the campaign if I had known that the producers did not yet have all legal rights in place.

A similar situation arose in relation to that UK anthology on Nigel Kneale that was delayed but now seems to be appearing. For some busy reason, I forgot to contribute to TOSTW fund when donations were required but now glad I did not. However, I did contribute to a Kickstarter for a Nicholas Ray documentary but have heard nothing since but I do hope this project eventually works out. Just think I had a DVD showing of THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND scheduled for one of my Welles classes thinking it would be commercially available then!

Peter B. sounds optimistic note:

Peter Bogdanovich says that the editing of Orson Welles' unfinished  The Other Side of Wind could begin in two months. At first blush, it appears to be wishful thinking by the 77-year-old filmmaker, given that no deal with the various parties has been inked and the negative remains locked away in a film laboratory outside Paris.
