As an early holiday present, Wellesnet is once again streaming vintage Christmas radio shows featuring Orson Welles and his Mercury Theatre players.
First up are two versions of Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol” as heard on the Campbell Playhouse in 1938 and 1939.
Lady Esther’s “Orson Welles Show” from December 22, 1941 with a holiday theme is our third offering. Guest stars include Mercury Theatre pals Ray Collins, Agnes Moorehead, Joseph Cotten, Edgar Barrier and Erskine Sanford. Tim Holt of “The Magnificent Ambersons” is also on hand. And finally, radio great Norman Corwin’s “The Plot to Overthrow Christmas” from 1944 starring Welles and Collins.
Listen to all four broadcasts at https://www.wellesnet.com/?page_id=8449
Merry Christmas!
