‘Hopper/Welles’ to be shown at IndieLisboa

In 2020, fans saw the release of “Hopper/Welles” and Orson Welles’ radio work repurposed in a best-selling hip hop album.
“At Orson’s Fireplace” is an English translation of an article that will appear in the Italian film magazine Cabiria No. 196-197.
Comprised of previously unknown interview footage, “Hopper/Welles” captures a November 1970 conversation shot during “The Other Side of the Wind” between Orson Welles and Easy Rider director Dennis Hopper.
The eight-day film festival, set for October 15-22, is based out of Los Angeles, though it will be held virtually this year because of the pandemic.
Welles scholar Joseph McBride writes, “Kudos to all involved in ‘Hopper/Welles’ for giving us more bounty from the director’s seemingly endless closet of unfinished material. “
“Hopper/Welles” will be shown in the Icons category, which showcases the latest films of contemporary iconic filmmakers from around the world.
