The Indiegogo campaign to complete The Other Side of the Wind received a much-needed boost in its final days.

On July 1, filmmaker Dax Phelan (Jasmine) made a substantial donation, $25,000. His comment was priceless: “Many filmmakers have talked about what an inspiration Orson Welles was. Few have lifted a finger to help him when he needed it most. I decided I didn’t want to be one of the latter. Orson, wherever you are, from one maverick to another, thank you. Now, let’s do this.”

Two hours later, South African writer Len Kloosman (Out of Angola) donated an additional $25,000!

So far, a little more $334,000 of the $1 million goal has been realized.

The Other Side of the Wind producers have made a final appeal to the public and stressed that monies raised will be used toward its  completion.  The following message was posted on the crowdfunding campaign website:

Hey there fans and supporters,

As we come into the final stretch we just wanted to say thanks again for all your help and support. We’ve raised over a quarter of a million dollars! To make a very special film come to life. Because of your contributions, we’re that much closer to sharing Orson’s last film with the world, and you’ll be amongst the first to see it and you can know in your heart you contributed to a truly historic piece of cinema.

Lastly, there may be some of you that are worried that we’re not going to hit our goal and that this film won’t get made and we’re going to run off to Tahiti with your sacred pledge dollars. WE ASSURE YOU THiS IS NOT THE CASE. THIS FILM WILL GET MADE! And your support has greatly helped us get to the next steps. For now, let’s do all we can to make this last week really impactful and we’ll follow up in the following days with what comes next.
